Sofa Kingdom-Uncle Fester

Heavy, heavy, heavy-each chord rocks the soul while Stevie Tsangaras' vocals wail and the rhythms of Fester's power trio crunch resoundingly.  Uncle Fester revels in pounding out original numbers with Anthony's fluidly metallic guitar.  The vocals are there from Leslie West's roar in "Metropolis" to Ozzie's demented bleating in "Traveler."  The instrumental "Express Drive South" exhibits wide ranging styles as Pierro capably pours out a Danny Gatton styled boogie rave up.  The roots of prog/Sabbath writhe malevolently throughout "Destiny" and "The Operation" reeks with horror movie overtones and desperation.  Wrapping with a live, acoustic version of "Traveler", the unique style and attitude of Uncle Fester shines amidst lyrics dark and beautiful, instruments solid and hard and a brilliantly articulate vocal ululation at the opener/closer of "The Operation." 3 guys, 1 disk and infinite power.
